Description: Each Spring European tradition calls for randonneurs to gather for unique team randoneuring events around the continent that converge at a common destination for the finish, where a festive banquet, brunch, or dinner typically ensues. Here in the U.S. we've adopted a variation on that team ride theme that allows us to hold them anytime.

The team randonnée is different from a regular brevet in that each team designs their own course, and team members ride together to finish exactly at the same time as the other teams all at the chosen destination.

How to:

1) Read the easy rules on the RUSA site HERE and HERE.

2) Gather a team of 3-5 riders.

3) Use Mapmyride.com or Google Maps to design a one-way course, minimum 180Km, from the start destination of your choice to the Eagle River Ale House.

4) Create your own team cue sheet & control card. Control card template is HERE.

5) Email a copy of your map, cue sheet, and control card to info@alaskarandonneurs.org.

Special Instructions: Beware of riding in a paceline with riders you're unfamiliar. Insure your cables and chain are in running condition before the ride. Check your tubes and patch kit from last season. Does your pump still work? Fenders with mud flaps are always strongly encouraged, or you'll face the scorn and abuse of your fellow randonneurs drafting you when the skies open up or when the roads become muddy. Rear lights, in non-flashing mode only, are strongly encouraged for every ride.

Remember, the spirit of randonneuring emphasizes self-sufficiency. If your derailleur cable breaks, you gotta fix it. Bring a pen, and your camera. Be sure to take lots of photos! Also, it's your responsibility to have your brevet card properly completed at each control point.

DO NOT LOSE YOUR BREVET CARD! Please be polite/courteous/civil to convenience store attendants. It's your responsibility to know the Alaska state and local road laws. Ride no more than two up. White light front, red light rear between dusk and dawn. Link to Alaska Bicycle Law.

Reminders: Join or renew your RUSA membership.

Most Important: All riders are reminded that any failure to conduct the ride in accordance with RUSA rules (www.rusa.org), applicable laws, or any special instructions or equipment requirements for this ride may result in a time penalty or disqualification. Sorry, I had to say that. Right now would be a good time to read RUSA's Rules for Riders (http://www.rusa.org/brvreg.html) Also, you've got to wear your helmet.
